Milling Machine
A milling machine for keyways, flats, slots and bolt patterns on the parts you turn. A vertical milling machine here is chosen by table length and spindle taper, because those two decide what can be clamped and what can be held.
What a vertical milling machine cuts
Keyways, flats, slots and bolt patterns on the same parts you turn. Every machine here is a vertical milling machine with a swivelling turret head, so the cutter reaches an angle as well as a face. Send the drawing and we will match a turret mill to the work — with the table size and spindle taper that fit. A horizontal milling machine is the right answer for slab and gang work, while the turret head reaches a keyway in a shaft without a second setup.

Vertical milling machine range we supply
Three turret mills sharing the same head design, sized by table length and spindle taper. The swivel table on the larger models makes it a universal milling machine for helical and angular work.
R8 turret mill
4-1 — 1270 × 254 mm table, R8 spindle, 3 HP, 80–5440 rpm in 16 steps, 720 mm X travel, 1280 kg. The light, fast head for toolroom work and one-off parts. A dro milling machine version is available for shops that want readouts on all three axes.
NT40 turret mill
5M and 5S — 1370 × 305 mm table, NT40 spindle, 5 HP, up to 860 mm X travel, 1550–1680 kg. Heavier cuts and longer work.
Long-table NT40 mill
TJ-M6 — 1550 × 330 mm table, 1020 mm X travel, 50–4650 rpm variable speed, 5 HP, 1400 kg. Change speed on the fly for mixed materials.

All four are vertical turret mills with a swivelling head — 45° front to back and left to right on the 4-1, 45° left to right on the 5M, 5S and TJ-M6. Spindle travel 127 mm and 3 × 15.88 mm T-slots on every model. Standard supply includes manual oil pump, work light, bellows cover, drawbar, tool box and coolant system; 2-axis DRO, X-axis power feed and 6 in vice are the usual options.

Every turret mill leaves the workshop assembled, trammed and test-cut before it is crated. These are the units in stock — the same four models listed in the table above, photographed from the operator’s side. Click any photo to see it full size.

Straight answers to what buyers ask before they place an order.
Which is better, a vertical milling machine or a horizontal one?
Vertical for slots, keyways and faces on parts held in a vice; horizontal for heavy slab milling where the arbor supports the cutter. Most Indian job shops buy the vertical machine first because it covers more of the work that comes in.
What is a universal milling machine?
A machine whose table swivels, so it can be set for angles and, with a dividing head, for helical work. A plain turret mill cannot swivel its table, which is the difference that matters when the drawing has an angle on it.
What does a turret milling machine price depend on?
Table length, spindle taper, head power and whether a DRO is fitted. The 4-1 with an R8 spindle is the entry point; the 5M and 5S with NT40 cost more because the head and the table are heavier.
Can these mills cut a keyway in a shaft?
Yes, with the shaft clamped and the head swivelled where the keyway runs along the shaft. For a keyway that needs the arbor supported, a horizontal setup is the better route and we will say so.
Universal milling machine or turret mill?
Send the part drawing or just the diameter and length. We will tell you which machine fits, what the milling machine price comes to, and how it ships. A dro milling machine package is quoted with the mill, so the operator reads position instead of counting handwheel turns.
