Surface Grinding Machine
A surface grinding machine for flat, parallel faces on the parts you turn. A surface grinder here is sized by its table, because the table decides the largest plate that can be finished in one setting.
What a surface grinding machine finishes
Surface grinding for the parts you turn — finishing a face, holding a thickness, or cleaning up a plate after hardening. Every machine on this page is a manual surface grinding machine. The table is hand-fed on the smaller models and hydraulic on the 700 mm machine, which keeps the setup simple for one-off grinding work. Tell us the size of the work and the finish you need, and we will come back with the options and a price.
- Surface grinding for flat faces
- Parallel faces held to 0.005 mm
- Finishing a face to the size you need
- Hardened parts ground after heat treatment
Surface grinding machine range we supply
Three table sizes of surface grinder, from the 150 × 450 mm bench grinding machine to the 700 × 300 mm heavy-duty model. A pedestal grinding machine handles the toolroom edge; the surface grinder handles the face, and the two are not interchangeable.
Small surface grinder
150 × 450 mm table — M618 and 450S. 175–180 mm wheel, 1.1 kW wheel head, flatness held to 0.005 mm. Toolroom plates, mould inserts, small dies.
Medium surface grinder
250 × 500 / 520 mm table — M250 and MY250. 200 mm wheel, 1.5 kW head at 2850 rpm, 0.005 mm parallelism over 300 mm.
Large surface grinder
700 × 300 mm table — MY3270. 350 mm wheel, 4 kW head, hydraulic table reversing, 730 mm longitudinal travel. Long beds, die blocks, guideways.

Straight answers to what buyers ask before they place an order.
What tolerance can a surface grinding machine hold?
Flatness and parallelism to 0.005 mm on the models listed here, measured over the table length. The figure holds when the wheel is dressed and the coolant is running, which is why the coolant tank ships with the machine.
Do I need a bench grinding machine or a floor model?
The bench grinding machine covers small plates and toolroom edges where the work can be lifted on by hand. Above roughly 50 kg, the floor-standing surface grinder is the safer choice because the table takes the weight.
What is a surface grinder price made up of?
Table size, wheel head power, whether the table is hand-fed or hydraulic, and the magnetic chuck. The chuck is often quoted separately, so check whether it is in the figure you are comparing.
Is a surface grinder the same as a tool grinding machine?
No. A tool grinding machine sharpens cutters and drills; a surface grinder produces a flat, parallel face on a workpiece. Buyers who need cutter sharpening should ask for that machine instead, and we will say so rather than sell the wrong one.
Bench grinding machine or floor model?
Send the part drawing or just the diameter and length. We will tell you which machine fits, what it costs, and how it ships.
